We Help People Deliver Software On Time

IT No Pain Method

WHY 80%(*) OF SOFTWARE PROJECTS FAIL

(... and how to avoid it)

(*) Failure percentage are calculated including either startup's software project or enterprises deploying IT systems .

Developing and deploying a software are activities that make people go through stress, pain, headaches, conflict and frustration.

We can guide you through the same succesful pathway we run across dozens of times.

We collected successful tips, governance tools, tricks, and hints in the

IT No Pain

methodology.

The Usual Wrong Way

Wow, have you heard about the latest Couchbase research published in 2022? It found that 80% of software initiatives fail, suffer delays, or are scaled back.

But don't worry we have the solution. With 30 years of experience, we have developed a methodology that takes into account the importance of people and skills, wider business engagement, and empowering developer teams.

By considering the two main elements of IT and software projects being made by humans and living in programs, our methodology will help you solve the puzzle easy-peasy!

Savings

THere are the estimated costs for deploying an ERP software, including licenses, deployment services, internal labor costs, IT infrastructure, and outsourced consultancy services

  • 600,000 – 1,500,000 $ in licenses and deployment service

  • 200,000 – 400,000 $/year in internal labor costs

  • 50,000 – 100,000 $ in IT infrastructure

  • 150,000 – 300,000 $ in outsourced consultancy services

For a 2 years project, the grand total is between 1,350,000 $ and 3,100,000 $

The project starts with a wonderful kick-off meeting.

Two years later ...

You are exausted by delays, costs improvements, misunderstandings, overtime, failed software tests, project's replanning, and internal conflict resolutions. After one more year, to save the project, your Steering Commitee agrees to scale back the initial goals at 80%.

The overspending due to the scale back decision is at least 270,000 $ to 620,000 $, (20% of the initial costs). You have to add the cost growth due to internal labor, deployment service and external consultancy.

That's bad news.

The good news is that there is a way to save this amount and have three big advantages.

ADVANTAGES OF OUR METHODOLOGY

- CORE 1 -
PROJECTS ARE MADE BY HUMANS

GET THINGS DONE

With ITNoPain methodology your employees will be focused on the project and achieving milestones on-time. Team members will have a clear and transparent vision of the project's purpose so they will easily accept the responsability of processes changes.

INSOURCE KNOWLEDGE

A consultant needs time (and you pay for that) to understand your business keys even if they are experienced in software development or deployment projects. But your employees do not.  With ITNoPain methodology you will avoid consultant-locking because the knowledge of how the software supports your processes remains inside your company.

MORE TIME, LESS MONEY

Avoid customizations as they are difficult to achieve. With ITNoPain methodology you will transfer the responsibility of customisation to key users in a timely manner and this will save time, money, and avoid struggles.

ENABLE FUTURE UPGRADES

Wow, have you heard about the latest software version? It's packed with amazing new functionalities that support a larger set of processes, giving you the opportunity to integrate even more processes than before! These new features are often requested by your customers or driven by market opportunities. Adopting standard software, you'll be able to upgrade your system in the future. Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to learn and grow!

AFFOARDABLE INNOVATION

It is essential to have real business innovation in your market. Innovation should not be limited to products but also applied to business processes. IT No Pain methodology can help your project team become an asset in driving the change.

NURTURE SKILLS

Implementing a new IT system results in changes in business roles, with responsibilities being transferred from one user group to another. By prioritizing key users, potential Human Resource issues can be prevented. Losing a key user who leaves their job means losing valuable process knowledge.

MORE RELIABLE DATA

A fully integrated IT system enables efficient collection of crucial business data. However, users who encounter complexities in IT systems may discover workarounds that can lead to incomplete or inaccurate data collection. Conversely, engaged users who adhere to the system's processes can provide valuable data for analysis. It is essential to recognize the importance of a well-integrated IT system in facilitating accurate data collection.

No Pain IT Project - CORE 2
PROJECTS LIVE IN PROGRAMS

Core 2. IT  systems and software Projects (and software) are parts of a larger program

Outcome:

  • Avoid do and re-do -> Recognizing that there are other projects running in the company lets you organize your activities accordingly

  • The right thing at the right time -> along the life of your IT Project you will need to make choices. Some of them will be about the priority of functionalities to be deployed. Should we  complete first the inventory management module, the financial module, the scheduling module or the quality genealogy? With ITNoPain methodology you can synchronize your project within the Program.

  • Resource Allocation -> IT Projects are made by humans (do you remember?). You share them with other projects and they may be internal and external people (managers, users, consultants, deployers, software developers). Knowing and synchronizing their active participation is key to respect the timeline.

  • Move as a whole -> Communicating results, status, and next steps of your project is one of the tools that collects contributions from people, experienced users, people outside the team to contribute in your IT Project. If your and other projects communicate separately, the stakeholders, the users that belongs to other project teams became confused. Stay clear, stay minimal!

  • Optimize time and costs -> Knowing what current (and future) projects are focusing, when they will approach business processes defines better your efforts. If the company has a plan to start an automatic warehouse project in the next 6 months and you are going live with your ERP system in 10 months, it's important to start talking with the automatic warehouse project team as soon as possible. You will not define the data exchange protocol at the beginning, but it's important to  define an integration framework.

  • Go-live at the right time -> The go-live moment will be the moment you will need everything around your project domain to work at 100%. What if you discover 2 days before your go-live that an electric power supply project will need a 4-hour power supply outage just after your go-live? It's not an example, it's what we experienced.
